Dhaka Medical Institute (DMI) Library Grew Over The Years Since 1998 And Now Has Become One Of The Best Institute Libraries. The Library Has A Number Of Books, Journal, Periodicals, Manuals, Notes, Reports, Thesis Paper And Other Resources. The Books Of The Library Are Arranged By Code Number. So, Student Can Search Quickly From Catalog. Students, Who Have Membership Of The Library, Can Borrow The Resources Within The Library Hour.


A Total Of More Than 10,000 Books, Reports And Journals Of The Library Cover English Language, Chemistry, Physics, Biochemistry, Computer,Anatomy, Physiology, Community Medicine, Microbiology, Pediatrics, Surgery , Oral Pathology And Medicine. Histology And All Kinds Of Medical Books Are Available. Other Kinds Of Books Are Also Available With All Type Of Dictionary.

Who Can Be The Member?

All Students, Teachers, GB Members, Officers, Teaching Assistants, Research Assistants And Faculty Assistants Are Entitled To Become The Library Member.

Membership Procedure:

The Faculty Members, Students And Officers Of The Institute Have To Submit A Prescribed Membership Application Form Along With One Passport & One Stamp Size Photograph To The Librarian. Director Or Head Of The Department Ensures Identity Of The Faculty Member And Officer, But All Students Have To Produce Valid Registration Documents (Payment Slip & Id Card) And TAs (GA & UGA) Have To Produce Teaching Assistantship Offer Letter Ensuring His/Her Identity. Only Registered Library Users Will Be Able To Access To Resources And Services Of The Library.

Library Rules

DMI Library Has Its Own Rules, Approved By The Academic Council, For Functioning Well. As Per The Rules A Student Or Assistant Could Borrow Up To 2 Books Or Journals Or Reports At A Time For A Maximum Of One Week. As Per The Rules A Full-Time Faculty Member May Borrow Up To 5 Books With Related Materials At A Time For The Full Semester; Journals, Magazines And Audio Visual Materials For A Maximum Of One Week. Part-Time Faculty May Borrow Up To 2 Books With Related Materials At A Maximum Of One Week. The Faculty Members Have To Return Books And Other Borrowed Resources To The Library At The End Of Period. The Officers Of The Institute May Borrow Up To 2 Books With Related Resources At A Time For A Maximum Of One Week And May Renew Only For One Further Week.

Late Fine

If Any Borrower Fails To Return Borrowed Item(S) In Due Date, Tk.20.00 (Twenty) Per Day Fine Will Be Charged For Each Item. If Any User Loses Or Damages Any Item Of Library Resources S/He Has To Replace It Or Pay The Current Value Of Lost Or Damaged Item(S) Plus 20% Service Charge.

Book Requisition

The Faculty Members, Students And Officers May Place Their Demand Of Books And Other Information Resources Through The Head Of The Department To The Library For Procurement.

Service Hours

DMI Library Maintains 6 Days A Working Week. It Is Open, Saturday Through Thursday, From 9:00 A.M. To 5:00 P.M. It Remains Closed On Friday, Public Holidays And Other Dates Announced By The Institute Authorities.
